Blessed by its geographical position the island of Majorca has learnt to its advantage how to make good use of the natural ingredients it produces; from starters through to desserts, from vegetables to fish, from Eat in Palmameat to wine, island cuisine has slowly evolved over low heat.

For this reason its dishes have the flavour of things well made. The ensaimada, with its sweet filling and sobrasada (the best, elaborated with meat from black pigs) are the products best know abroad, but there are hundreds of different tasty recipes belonging to the island’s culinary repertoire. And although Majorca provides a wealth of restaurants offering international cuisine, it is the typical “cellers” where find the berst of the island’s dishes.

A great variety of rice dishes such as “paella”, “arros brut”, “arros de peix”, “arros amb salseta”, “arros marinera” play an important role in Mediterranean gastronomy.

Sport and outdoor enthusiast are able to practice a realm of activities in Alcúdia where they have magnificent beaches, mountains and coast. The port offers excellent facilities for golf and sailing.

Palma is Mallorca’s capital. It is exposed  to the calm of the sea and the mountains surrounding it. A natural, but mixed, elegance fruit of the imprint left by the different civilizations who inhabited it (Romans, Arabs, Catalans, or Corsairs) Palma is bordered by the sea and also with de areas of Calvià, Puigpunyent, Esporles, Valldemossa, Bunyola, Santa Eugenia, Alagaida and Llucmajor.

Recommended visits:

Palma will surprise you with its innumerable places of interest: the Arab Baths, one of the few Moorish architectural gems still preserved on the island; the Cathedral (La Seu), Miguel Barceló’s ceramic altarpiece specifically designed for the Santísimo Chapel in Palma Cathedral is undoubtedly an excellent work of art. The Bellver Castle, unique in its construction in the round; the Lonja (built between 1426 and 1448), a wonderful example of Catalan Gothic architecture, and the Almudaina Royal Palace and its museum, of Roman origin. Also the Gothic quarter, with its winding narrow streets hiding wonderful patios in manor homes, numbering over sixty in total. The Pilar I Joan Miró Foundation, the Casal Solleric, Es Baluard and the Fundación March are some interesting museums and art galleries which complement Mallorca’s cultural heritage.
