Principe Pio is the main point of departure for the cities to the northwest of Madrid.

Atocha Station or Estacion de Atocha is one of the largest railway station is Spain . It is the main station serving commuter trains or Cercanías, regional trains from the south, and the AVE high speed trains from Barcelona and Seville These train services are run by the Spanish national rail company, Renfe. The station is in the district of Arganzuela. The original facade faces the Plaza del Emperador Carlos V, a site at which a variety of streets converge, including the Calle de Atocha, Paseo del Prado, Paseo de la Infanta Isabel, Avenida de la Ciudad de Barcelona, Calle de Méndez Álvaro, Paseo de las Delicias, Paseo de Santa María de la Cabeza, and Ronda de Atocha.Station is also connected by a large tunnel to the other main station in Madrid the station of Chamartin .
The Atocha station is really a complex railway, formed by the Madrid Atocha Cercanías and Madrid Puerta de Atocha stations. Has three floors with different services for arrivals and departure.
The station has been builded in 1851 and reformed in 1892 after being partially destroyed by a fire. In 1985 a project of remodeling of the complete station began thanks to architect Rafael Moneo .
In 1992 the original building stops the function as main terminal for the train and has been transformed in a covered tropical garden of 4000 sq.m., plenty of services like bars supermarkets, bike rentals, shops, tourist offices, night clubs and more.
