The popular resort of Alcudia is located on the north east coast of the Balearic Island, Mallorca, just over 52km from the capital city, Palma. The town’s prime position at the western end of the magnificent Bay of Alcudia is about 1½ hours from Palma and within easy reach of the main destinations across the archipelago.

Alcudia has enjoyed a rich and vibrant history that reached a peak during the 2nd Century BC when the old town was the Roman capital of the island, known then as Pollentia. Before the Roman occupation Alcudia had been host to a variety of civilisations including the Phoenicians and the Greek. In the 6th Century, after the influence from Rome had started to diminish the Vandals completely destroyed the old city, which the Moors later rebuilt as Alkudia, or the Town on the Hill. Following the Spanish conquest in the 14th Century modern day Alcudia began to take shape.

At present the old town consists of a labyrinth of narrow streets enclosed by carefully restored medieval ramparts that contain a number of attractions illustrating the diverse origins of Alcudia. The most prominent monuments include two magnificent medieval gates; the main gate of Portal de Moll is a dramatic construction with two square towers and a pair of huge palm trees standing either side of the entrance. Alcudia also boasts the remains of a number of Roman dwellings and an amphitheatre, one of Mallorca's oldest churches the Orator de Santa Anna, and the Hermitage of La Victoria. At the Museu Monografic de Pollentia, next to the central parish church of Sant Jaume, access is available to numerous exhibits that reflect the history, traditions and cultures of the region.

The main tourist resort of Alcudia is situated on the bay, 3km down the hillside from the old town. The warm shallow waters of Alcudia Bay lie beside almost 8km of beach that is without doubt one of the major attractions to this resort. The fine beach area offers a vast expanse of splendid, golden sand with a comprehensive range of services and facilities.
