Lanzarote Airport Lanzarote is one of the most popular tourist destinations within the Canary Islands, consistently providing a comprehensive range of transport to the 6 million visitors that arrive each year. The majority of people arrive to the island at Guacimeta International Airport. This large, modern airport is conveniently located 5km (3 miles) from Arrecife on the east coast of Lanzarote. Flights to and from the airport serve all the major European cities and connect with the other airports on the Atlantic archipelago. Upon arrival, Guacimeta International Airport provides visitors to Lanzarote with excellent public transport links. Bus services are frequent and offer convenient, regular connections to a number of locations on the island. Whilst, a taxi from the Airport to Arrecife, or Costa Teguise, will take approximately 15 minutes at a cost of about 10 Euros. The journey from the airport to the popular resort of Playa Blanca, in the south of the island, takes 45 minutes and in a taxi costs 25 Euros.

Near the capital Arrecife is Puerto de Los Marmoles (Port of Marbles). This large commercial port acts as the main gateway for import and export on Lanzarote. There are frequent ferry connections to Puerto de Corralejo in nearby Fuerteventura and Las Palmas de gran Canaria, which is 200km to the southwest. From Puerto de Los Marmoles it is possible to sail to mainland Spain. The long, leisurely voyage is by cruise liner, leaving Cadiz in southern Spain on Saturday and arriving in Arrecife the following Wednesday.

There are a number of convenient transport options for visitors to Lanzarote, the cheapest of which is the public bus service that covers the length and breadth of the island. The numerous bus routes offer a relaxed comfortable method of accessing the many and varied attractions on offer. Alternatively, cars, motorbikes and bicycles are widely available to hire at competitive prices providing the freedom that may be required to fully enjoy the dynamic island of Lanzarote.
