• Good road networks make leisurely exploration of the surrounding coastal region by car a tempting option. Anyone travelling to a tight schedule should be aware that tailbacks on the N340, the main coastal road, tend to cause unavoidable delays throughout the holiday season.
• The bus station in Malaga provides routes to all large Spanish cities
and also the smaller local towns and villages. Organisation and preparation
are essential when planning to travel through Spain by bus, as regulations
can be problematic for those with time constraints.
• As always, allow for regional variations such as purchase
of ticket not before 20 minutes to departure time or long queues for
travel information.

and economical alternative to rail when travelling from the Costa
del Sol to the centre of Spain. The journey from Marbella to Madrid
takes about 8 hours with on stop en route.
