Torrevieja
has millions of visitors each year most of whom fly into one of
two international airports that are a short distance away. El Altet,
to the north in Alicante, and San Javier, in the west just outside
Murcia, are a mere 40 minutes drive from the resort. Annually, both
airports handle flights from all over Europe and throughout the
UK including Gatwick, Stanstead and Luton. From the UK flights take
about 2½ hours and an abundance of low cost tickets ensures
the continued popularity of this gorgeous seaside town.
• Taxis are available from outside
both airports and the fare to Torrevieja is roughly 70 euros.
• There is also a cheap, reliable bus service offering access
to and from the airports and running on a frequent basis between
Alicante, Murcia and Torrevieja.
• From the bus station in the town it is possible to plan
a journey to any destination in Spain at a fraction of the cost
of rail or air tickets.
• The nearest train station is in Alicante where it is possible to catch the mainline RENFE trains that are a part of the Spanish national rail network. Ticket prices may seem expensive in comparison with the bargain airfare currently available, however this can be a very relaxing and scenic way to discover Spain.

and for a time the ancient port handled the largest fleet of sailing
boats on the Mediterranean.

has a first class marina and yacht club with berths for over 1500
boats and continues to attract both novice and experienced sailors
from around the world.
• By far the most popular mode of transport for visitors to the Costa Blanca is the hire car as it allows the freedom required to enjoy the numerous attractions along the coast and in the countryside surrounding Torrevieja. Car hire deals and prices are extremely competitive and there are a huge number of hire companies all across the region.
