Paris is a magical city and at Christmas time the magical side that this beautiful city has, is even more emphasized. The banks of the river Sena draw a big smile and the Eiffel Tower turns into a spectacular Christmas tree. Paris dresses up for Christmas, and it does so completely maintaining the elegance and exclusiveness that characterizes Paris. More than any other time “The City of Light” is correctly named.
The streets are decorated, the shop windows overflow with liveliness and the most beautiful monuments of Paris are lit up. It´s Christmas and the capital gets prepared to offer visitors a selection of festivities and entertainment. The programme includes Christmas markets, nativities, outdoor ice-rinks, merry-go-rounds, shows and concerts. And so that your New Year´s Eve dinner will be unforgettable the Parisian restaurants have once again prepared the most exclusive menus.
It´s not surprising that the most famous avenue of the city, The Champs-Elysées, joins in. It isn´t enough to put colourful lights up in the trees or to decorate, with elegance, all the shop windows that flood the street, from the Arc de Triumph to the big wheel that is in the Place de la Concorde but they also place a Christmas market a kilometre long on each side of the avenue. It is worth walking down this improvised Christmas market and finish up by going on the large ferris wheel.
But this isn´t the only Christmas market. The Trocadero square, behind the Eiffel Tower, has the most charming Christmas market in Paris. And probably the most fun and complete of them all. The “European Village of the Trocadéro Christmas on Ice” will take us away to a mountain station very similar to a ski station, in the centre of Paris… Outdoor ice-rink, huge igloo, snowman… A programme which includes a hundred of stalls of workshops, gastronomy and various folkloric shows so that this Christmas has the same magic as always… The Christmas market is open every day from 11:00am until 8:00pm. From the 13th of December until the 3rd of January.
We can´t forget the little ones of the family, Christmas is a family holiday. Workshops, shows, fairground rides, ice-rinks…. Paris offers different entertainment for all ages to be able to live and enjoy a fantastic Christmas.
We can rent a car at the airport to be able to travel around this city and its outskirts at our own desire. we all know that when you travel with children it is so much more comfortable and easy to travel in a family vehicle.
Disneyland Paris is celebrating its 20th anniversary!! Untill the 6th of January you can discover a country full of magic, where happiness is everywhere and it never stops snowing. There you will find the biggest Christmas tree you have ever seen!!
Like every year, The ville of Paris has installed a 1635 square metre outdoor ice-rink in the square Hôtel de Ville (Town-hall). Everything is prepared for you to have a great time: there is no entrance fee, you can rent skates there and there are instructors to help the public. And this is a tradition that has stuck in the city because it has a continuos trickle of people that skate, some better some worse, next to a building that they wanted to emulate to one of the castles of Loira. But that´s not all. Hôtel de Ville gets close to the dreams of any child together with the two carousels, one at each end of the square.
We hope you enjoy Paris in this time of year. We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
