Rent a car with Rentspain and follow our advice to properly overtake cyclists. When taking the car keep in mind that there are more and more cyclists on the road, so you must know when to overtake properly. To prevent accidents and have more security, you need only follow a few rules.
When you go to overtake a cyclist there are clear rules you must leave a lateral gap of at least 1.5 meters. You can invade the opposite lane partially or completely if necessary provided there are no cars coming the other way and you’re not putting at risk any passerby.
If you find cyclists that are not moving but standing you must follow the same rules, leaving enough lateral separation.
If cyclists are circulating in group you should also be careful and expect to have enough space and time to advance because in this case it is more difficult to overtake than one rider.
Remember that cyclists also have preference in roundabouts if they are in a group and one of them is already in the roundabout.
With more and more cyclists on the road you may find yourself with some of them more frequently so keep your distance and caution when overtaking because the first thing is the safety of all.
