Covadonga Lakes are two small lakes (Enol and Ercina) located in the fantastic surroundings of the Picos de Europa National Park. Rent your car in Oviedo and travels the Asturian town of Cangas de Onis from where you can access to the lakes.
Twelve kilometers down the lake near Cangas de Onis is the great basilica of Covadonga. A religious place where the complex history of the Basilica of Covadonga is the cave with a small chapel inside, some church buildings and various hoteliers establishments.
Going up to the lakes there are several routes of varying difficulty. If you need to get your strength there are several establishments among sections of Cangas de Onis and lakes.
At the top over 1,000 meters high the first of the lakes that you find is Lake Enol is the larger of the two. A little further up to 1,100 meters is the lake Ercina .
Upon reaching the lake Enol there is parking on your left. From this car park you can follow a predetermined route. Walking up the stairs near the car park to the Mirador de la Reina, that offers stunning views of the mountains and Cangas de Onis.
Other places to visit are the surroundings are: the Buferrera mines and the interpretation center of the Picos de Europa with environmental exposures.
The end point of the visit is the lake Ercina where it is common to see herds of cows grazing around this natural paradise.
