Denia: if you come, you will come back!
Denia is a city in the province of Alicante, Spain, halfway between Alicante and Valencia. Denia is one of the most important tourist cities there are in the Comunitat Valenciana, for its incredible landscapes among other things because Denia has a mountain of 800 metres just a few metres from the sea.
The mountain named Montgó is declarated a Nature Park since 1987, with the objective of protect its flora and fauna from the urbanization expansion. In Nature Park of Montgó, you can discover some things:
- Camel’s Cave: very beutiful the footpath which you go to this cave.
- Water’s Cave: it is the shortest of all short tour routes, where you can see inside the cave the water and a Roman inscription.
- Racó del Bou Footpath: a easy pathway to have a nice excursion.
- Montgó’s Top: is the most difficult footpath and you have to start in the morning because there’re 3 hours to go and other 3 hours to return.
In other hand, Denia has a beutiful coast where we can enjoy of 20 kilometres of differents types of beach, do water activities and many more things. There are stone beaches, rock beaches and sandy beaches. Also you can eat in a mediterranean restaurant, where you should to taste the Denia’s Red Prawn, the only one in the world.
Don’t forget to visit the Denia’s castle, a structure built in the 11th Century that nowadays everyone can discover and feel like the old muslims, and offers views around the sea, the city and the surrounding area. If you come here, you can book a car in Denia or in the airports of Valencia and Alicante.
The most important festival is in July with the famous Bous a la Mar (Bulls at the Sea), watching bulls run down the main street Campos Street, only to be chased into the Mediterranean sea by those daring enough to enter a makeshift bull ring with them. Come to Denia and enjoy it!
