ALBACETE´S FAIR
Albacete is an unknown city for many, but surprisingly amazing for those that have already been there. Fron the 7th to the 17th of September, Albacete dresses itself up for a fair, unique in all of Spain.Over 40 years ago it was declared of International Tourist Interest, without a doubt in their mind, the thousands of people that have been would go again. Here you will find necessary advice and information to have some intense days of bulls, concerts and typical Spainish “FIESTA”.
If you don´t want to arrive late to the concerts or to the bullruns, the best thing to do is to rent a car at the RENFE station in Albacete. During the fair it is impossible to catch a taxi and the buses don´t run on time.
The fair has to be enjoyed all day, so we´ll start around 1 o´clock with a nice cold beer. We enter the place by going around to the left to see the horses and carts, we will enter at the height of the Talabarteros Square. Here we will go to the international wineries to have a few beers and some tapas. To eat I recommend the stewed bull, a traditional food in the fair and can be found on any stand. Now a coffee would benice, the day is very long, Caballo Blanco or Paquillo are the favourite and Miguelitos in La Moderna. At five o´clock in the afternoon the Mojito crawl starts. You will be able to drink a mojito, or two, and dance to the summer number ones until supper time. Another option would be to return to the hotel and rest, to gather energy for the night concerts. When we start to fell hungry, at any food stand we can be served chicken with champagne to share with our friends. Now we are prepared to go to the concerts, the Rock tents are free, even though you can always pay to see a concert in one of the other tents. When the concerts finish the partying continues until dawn, don´t forget to stop off at a hot chocolate stand on your way back to the hotel
To finish off, my last piece of advice is about your clothing. To really enjoy the fair you should wear a comfortable and closed in shoe, a jumper in the evening/night because it does get quite cool, and sunglasses for midday!!
